Moris — Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
Welcome to Moris.
Moris is a vocal training and practice application designed to help singers build their vocal skills, personalize their exercises, and track their progress.
We respect your privacy and are committed to being transparent about the information we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you.
This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, processed, stored, retained, and deleted when you use the Moris mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Services").
By using Moris, you acknowledge the data practices described in this Privacy Policy.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information necessary to provide and improve Moris, maintain user accounts, personalize vocal exercises, and support app functionality.
A. Account Information
When you create a Moris account, we collect:
- Your name or chosen display name.
- Your email address.
- Authentication information necessary to create and maintain your account.
- Account preferences and settings.
Your name, email address, and password are required to register an account.
Authentication is managed through Supabase Auth. Moris does not store your password in readable form in its application database. Passwords are handled securely by the authentication provider.
B. Vocal Profile Information
To personalize your vocal training experience, Moris collects and stores certain information about your voice and vocal capabilities.
This may include:
- Your lowest and highest detected or selected vocal notes.
- Your vocal range.
- Your vocal passaggio or transition area.
- Original vocal-range measurements used for progress comparisons.
- Saved exercise settings, overrides, and custom presets.
This information is used to customize exercises and provide relevant vocal training experiences.
Moris does not use your vocal measurements to identify you as an individual or authenticate your identity.
C. Practice and Progress Information
When you use Moris, we may collect and store information about your practice activity, including:
- Exercises and routines you complete.
- Practice dates, frequency, and duration.
- Exercise performance results and scores.
- Pitch accuracy and other calculated performance measurements.
- Achievements, experience points, and progress milestones.
- Custom routines, riffs, presets, and exercise configurations.
This information allows Moris to save your progress, personalize your experience, and provide practice history and feedback.
D. Microphone and Voice Information
Moris requests access to your device's microphone to detect vocal pitch and provide real-time feedback during exercises and vocal assessments.
Microphone audio is processed locally on your device.
Moris does not record, upload, transmit, or store raw microphone audio.
Audio input is analyzed temporarily in device memory to calculate vocal pitch and related measurements. The audio itself is not retained.
Only derived numerical information, such as detected notes, vocal-range measurements, and exercise performance results, may be saved to your Moris account.
You can manage microphone permissions through your device's settings. Certain vocal training features may not function without microphone access.
E. Bug Reports and Diagnostic Information
Moris provides an optional feature that allows you to submit reports about technical problems or unexpected app behavior.
When you voluntarily submit a bug report, we may collect:
- The category and written description of the reported issue.
- The date and time the report was submitted.
- The app screen or exercise being used.
- Relevant exercise settings, including vocal-range settings.
- The app's selected appearance or theme.
- The device platform and model.
- The operating system and app version.
- Microphone permission status.
- Recent app interaction details and other relevant technical context.
This information helps us investigate bugs, reproduce technical problems, improve performance, and maintain the reliability of Moris.
Bug reports are submitted only when you choose to send them. Moris does not currently use third-party advertising, behavioral tracking, or analytics SDKs.
Please avoid including sensitive personal information in the written description of a bug report.
Some technical service providers may also process connection information, such as IP addresses and request logs, when you use the Services.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information described in this Policy to:
- Create, authenticate, and manage your account.
- Save and restore your vocal profile and preferences.
- Personalize exercises based on your vocal capabilities.
- Provide pitch detection and exercise feedback.
- Track practice history, scores, and progress.
- Maintain custom routines and exercise settings.
- Respond to support requests and investigate reported problems.
- Maintain, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Services.
- Comply with applicable legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information.
We do not share personal information with advertisers for targeted advertising.
We do not use your microphone audio for advertising, voice identification, or the creation of voiceprints for identity verification.
4. Microphone Access and Audio Privacy
Microphone access is central to certain Moris features.
When you begin an exercise or assessment requiring microphone input, Moris uses your device's audio-processing capabilities to analyze your voice in real time.
This processing is performed on your device rather than on Moris's servers.
Moris does not maintain a library of user voice recordings and does not transmit raw microphone recordings to Supabase or other remote services.
Numerical measurements derived from microphone analysis may be stored in your account so that the app can provide personalized exercises and progress tracking.
Microphone permission can be withdrawn at any time through your device settings.
5. Data Storage and Security
Moris uses Supabase to provide account authentication, database storage, and related backend functionality.
Information associated with your account, including your vocal profile and practice history, may be stored in Supabase-managed databases.
We use encrypted network connections to transmit information between Moris and its backend services.
Access to account-associated information in our database is restricted through Supabase's Row Level Security policies. These policies are designed to ensure that authenticated users can access and manage only their own account data, subject to the permissions required for each feature.
Bug reports may be submitted by authenticated users and are accessible to authorized administrative services for troubleshooting and product improvement. Ordinary users are not granted general access to other users' bug reports.
We take reasonable measures to protect information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
No method of electronic transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
6. Service Providers and Information Sharing
We use service providers when necessary to operate Moris.
Our primary backend service provider is:
Supabase — provides authentication, database storage, and backend services supporting Moris accounts and app functionality.
Service providers may process information on our behalf to provide these services, subject to their applicable agreements and privacy practices.
We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, respond to valid legal requests, protect the security of our Services, or enforce our legal rights.
Moris does not currently integrate third-party advertising or behavioral tracking SDKs.
We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
If our service providers or data practices change materially, we will update this Privacy Policy as appropriate.
7. Data Retention
We retain account information, vocal profile information, and practice data while your account remains active, as needed to provide Moris's functionality.
Certain information may be retained for longer periods where reasonably necessary for security, legal compliance, dispute resolution, or other legitimate purposes, subject to applicable law.
Bug reports and diagnostic information may be retained after account deletion for troubleshooting, software maintenance, and product improvement, as explained in Section 9.
Backups and infrastructure-level logs maintained by our service providers may persist for a limited period after information is deleted from the active application, consistent with applicable service-provider retention practices, even though the information is no longer accessible through Moris.
8. Your Privacy Choices and Rights
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights concerning your personal information, including the right to:
- Request access to personal information we maintain about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate information.
- Request deletion of personal information.
- Ask questions about how your information is used.
- Exercise additional privacy rights available under applicable law.
You can delete your Moris account directly within the application.
For requests that cannot be completed through the app, including questions about information retained in a bug report, you may contact us at:
We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests. We will respond as required by applicable law.
We will not discriminate against users for exercising applicable privacy rights.
9. Account Deletion and Retained Bug Reports
You may permanently delete your Moris account at any time by navigating to:
Settings → Account → Delete Account
After confirming deletion, your account is removed from Moris's active authentication system.
Your account-linked information, including your saved vocal profile, practice history, exercise scores, and other associated progress records, is also removed from the active database.
Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. If you wish to use Moris again, you will need to create a new account.
Retention of Bug Reports and Diagnostic Information
We may retain previously submitted bug reports and associated diagnostic information after you delete your account.
These reports help us understand technical problems, identify recurring issues, and improve the reliability and functionality of Moris.
When an account is deleted, the associated user identifier is removed from retained bug reports. The reports are no longer directly linked to the deleted Moris account through that identifier.
Retained reports may contain:
- Descriptions of technical problems.
- Bug categories.
- Dates and timestamps.
- Device and operating system information.
- App versions.
- Exercise configurations and vocal-range settings.
- Other technical context relevant to troubleshooting.
We do not intentionally retain the deleted account's user identifier in these reports.
However, removing an account identifier does not necessarily make all remaining information anonymous. User-submitted descriptions or combinations of technical details may still contain information that could identify an individual.
We therefore treat retained diagnostic information according to its contents and applicable privacy requirements.
Retained reports are used for troubleshooting, maintenance, and improvement of Moris, not for advertising or user tracking.
You may contact us if you believe a retained report contains personal information that should be reviewed or deleted.
Information may also remain temporarily in backups, service logs, or records retained as required or permitted by applicable law.
10. Children's Privacy
Moris is intended for users aged 13 and older.
We do not knowingly solicit personal information from children under the age of 13.
If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without any consent required by applicable law, we will take appropriate steps to delete the information.
Parents or guardians who believe a child has provided personal information to Moris may contact us at themorisapp.support@gmail.com.
11. International Users and Data Processing
Moris may be accessible to users outside the United States.
If you use Moris from another country, information associated with your account may be processed or stored in a jurisdiction different from your country of residence.
Moris's backend infrastructure is provided by Supabase and may be hosted in the United States or other locations where our service providers operate.
Data protection laws and privacy rights may vary by location.
Where applicable, we will take steps required by law to protect personal information transferred internationally.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes to Moris, our data practices, applicable laws, or the services we use.
When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the beginning of this document.
If changes materially affect how we handle personal information, we will provide additional notice where required by law.
The updated Privacy Policy will be made available through our website and, where applicable, within the Moris application.
